Woody Blackwell

Woody Blackwell is an original Charter Member of the Guild as well as a Hall of Fame Member. Woody turned 52 in 2009 and has over 19 years experience as an artist. Woody's work is prized by collectors and his famous Ross blades may be his signature point. Woody has also done an outstanding job replicating the Sweetwater Biface blades. Woody's points will be featured on the front cover of Journal number 6.

Sweetwater Biface blade

This is Woody's first attempt in approximately 15 years to make a Sweetwater Biface style blade. It is hand crafted from a blue - grey raw nodule of Georgetown flint. All of the percussion work was done with a copper billet. This superb blade is slightly longer and wider than the original prehistoric blade.

Obsidian blade

This is Woody's latest version of a Sweetwater Biface type blade. It is a little longer and wider than the original prehistoric point. It is made from obsidian whereas the original blade is made from Texas flint. This is Woody's attempt to push the envelope to the extreme so to speak. He believes that he can do even better in the future. A really fine example of his current workmanship using obsidian instead of flint. It measures 96 mm wide and measures 6mm at the thickest point. This gives a width to thickness ratio of 16 to 1.  To add this magnificent blade to your collection contact TJ at (641) 625 - 4180.
